1) What is the difference of light beam between Monlite® and other brand?

We are using NICHIA® LED as the light source. The quality of white light is much better than other's brand LED and the life of LED is more superior and reliable. Here is the photo showing the light beam between us.

You can see the photo in figure 1, Monlite® Laura G, the colour of light is sure more better than in figure 2, the light with colour blue ring around.

2) Did end user take more benefits from our brand Monlite®?

Yes, sure. For instance.

By comparing the retail price directly with one of very famous US brands flashlight in Hong Kong, it takes around HK$85.0 (US$10.9) for one piece, that product coming with one Nichia® White LED, product made in China and weatherproof only. One of the main drawbacks is that the product is NOT complied with EC RoHS (therefore, it may contain with heavy metals in raw materials, agents and/or its manufacturing processes)

For our Monlite® Laura G torch, our torch costs HK$180.0 (US$23.0) only online (http://www.victoria-hk.com ), but we are coming with four Nichia® LED and accessories. Our product is designed and made in Hong Kong. It is designed to be used underwater, (that is waterproof NOT weatherproof) and its complied with EC RoHS and packaging requirement.

What is CE marking?

CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the requirements of the applicable European Directives. For instance, EMC shielding.

What is RoHS?

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC. As of July 2006, EU law forbids the importation of non-compliant products.

What is WEEE?

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2002/96/EC. With effective from August 13, 2005, this directive generally becomes affective.

What is REACH?

REACH is a new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use 2006/1907/EC. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007.

Why Monlite® do not use high power rating LED 0.5W to 5W to make the torch performance better?

We care about our user to use our torch more safe and reliable rather than chasing the performance first, there is a potential overheat, burn and fire if mis-using the high power rating LED torch. Very dangerous. We think safety first always.

This is why our product do not have any potential Overheat and Fire (More safe to use and no burn hand feelings).

電筒自焚民安少年燒傷

西 貢 發 生 罕 見 電 筒 「 自 焚 」 意 外 ， 民 安 隊 少 年 團 一 名 男 成 員 ， 前 晚 在 營 地 露 營 ， 惟 在 睡 前 忘 記 關 上 電 筒 ， 長 開 至 昨 晨 疑 因 過 熱 起 火 ， 燃着衣 服 被 鋪 ， 他 被 燒 傷 腰 部 劇 痛 驚 醒 ， 險 變 燒 豬 ， 送 院 治 理 。

受 傷 少 年 （ 十 三 歲 ） 前 日 與 隊 友 同 往 北 潭 涌 民 安 隊 大 灘 營 露 營 ， 而 肇 事 電 筒 是 其 父 親 為 他 準 備 。 傷 者 前 晚 疑 開 着電 筒 翻 找 物 品 ， 其 後 忘 記 關 上 便 入 睡 ， 電 筒 則 滾 入 被 鋪 內 貼 近 其 腰 部 位 置 。

燒 至 焦 黑 變 形
昨 晨 六 時 許 ， 他 突 感 腰 部 劇 烈 灼 痛 ， 由 夢 中 驚 醒 ， 赫 見 腰 部 有 拳 頭 般 大 的 瘀 紅 傷 痕 ， 身 旁 的 電 筒 則 燒 至 焦 黑 變 形 ， 衣 服 被 鋪 亦 有 燒 焦 痕迹， 相 信 電 筒着火 引 致 ， 大 吃 一 驚 。 他 事 後 強 忍 劇 痛 ， 三 小 時 後 無 法 忍 受 始 向 導 師 報 告 ， 連 同 一 名 被 黃 蜂 螫 傷 的 十 餘 歲 女 團 員 ， 在 女 導 師 陪 同 下 由 救 護 車 送 院 。

民 安 隊 大 灘 營 毗 鄰 黃 石 碼 頭 ， 佔 地 一 萬 二 千 平 方 公 尺 ， 內 有 大 片 草 地 ， 可 供 一 百 一 十 人 紮 營 ， 另 有 可 容 納 五 十 人 宿 舍 、 泳 池 、 燒 烤 場 、 風 帆 及 獨 木 舟 貯 藏 室 等 ， 可 進 行 多 項 戶 外 訓 練 活 動 及 水 上 活 動 。 民 安 隊 姓 雷 指 揮 中 心 主 管 證 實 ， 傷 者 前 日 入 營 露 營 ， 昨 晨 發 現 自 攜 的 電 筒 焚 毀 。

質 劣 貨 易 短 路
理 工 大 學 機 械 工 程 學 系 盧 覺 強 工 程 師 表 示 ， 現 時 很 多 電 筒 採 用 強 光 燈 膽 ， 電 流 頗 大 ， 長 開 會 產 生 很 大 熱 力 。 他 懷 疑 電 筒 可 能 被 壓 在 被 鋪 內 及 長 時 間 開着導 致 短 路 ， 短 路 時 產 生 的 電 流 極 大 ， 從 而 產 生 高 溫 ， 若 放 近 衣 物 及 紙 張 等 ， 便 有 機 會 引 致 火 警 。

一 般 性 能 良 好 的 電 筒 ， 在 空 氣 流 通 的 空 間 開 啟 ， 因 為 可 以 散 熱 ， 即 使 長 時 間 開 啟 亦 不 會 構 成 危 險 ， 但 如 果 電 筒 屬 雜 牌 ， 零 件 質 量 與 品 質 檢 查 可 能 較 差 ， 長 時 間 開着便 容 易 短 路 ， 在 密 閉 的 空 間 內 更 易 過 熱着火 。 他 建 議 市 民 選 用 品 質 檢 查 嚴 謹 及 可 靠 的 品 牌 ， 以 及 避 免 長 期 開 着電 筒 。

電筒取暖燒覑睡袋 露營少年腰部灼傷 (明報) 11月 19日 星期一 05:05AM

【明報專訊】民安隊 發生罕見電筒起火傷人意外。一名民安隊少年團隊員，昨凌晨在西貢 露營時，懷疑把高功率電筒開覑放入睡袋內取暖，豈料電筒疑長開過熱，引致睡袋起火，少年腰部被灼傷驚醒彈起 ，跳出睡袋，通知輔導員報警，幸送院後無礙。有野外活動專家指出，曾有人開覑電筒放在褲袋取暖，結果亦燒傷屁股，他提醒巿民電筒並非取暖的工具。

高功率電筒 光射百米
香港攀山總會冰雪攀登及山藝教練梁念豪估計，肇事電筒為高功率的強力電筒，其燈膽用特殊物料製造，光線甚至可以直射100米遠，加上體積細小方便，香港警察亦經常在巡邏時使用，由於這類電筒的熱力較強，有人會錯誤用作取暖，但若以布料密蓋遮掩電筒，即有可能過熱起火。

梁指出，曾親眼見過有人把電筒開覑後插在褲袋，結果過熱燒傷屁股，亦曾有人使用廉價但品質差的高功率電筒，導致睡袋被燒熔。梁建議市民在野外活動時，用暖包取代電筒取暖，會安全得多。

民安隊少年團值日指揮官表示，事發地點為西貢大灘民安隊營地，當時有一批少年團男女團員在輔導員指導下在上址露營。指揮官指出，有不少野外活動人士喜歡用 電筒取暖，而肇事的13歲少年昨凌晨入睡前，亦把開覑的電筒放入睡袋取暖，及至凌晨5時許，電筒疑過熱起火燒覑睡袋，少年腰部被灼傷。事主事後通知輔導員 報警，幸送院敷治後無礙。

民安隊隊員黃蜂螯傷
指揮官補充說，該少年團亦有一名少女團員前日隨團行山時被黃蜂螯傷，至昨清晨仍感到不適，於是隨灼傷的少年團友，一同乘救護車往醫院診治，少女敷治後亦無礙。
